Free credits ["open" account]
ICDS now provides some free credits to all users, automatically allocated each month;
these are called "Research Exploration and Discovery" (READ) credits.
Free credits go into a credit account named open
(an echo of the old "open" queue);
paid credits go into other credit accounts
(typically named <userID>_cr_default).
To pay for Portal sessions,
interactive jobs,
or batch jobs with free credits,
specify open as the account name.
Just like paid credits, free credits can be used to pay for jobs on any available hardware.
Automatic credits do not roll over.
Automatically allocated credits do not roll over; unused credits are lost at the end of the month.
Researchers can request supplemental free credits with a simple application.
(Unlike automatic free credits, supplemental free credits do roll over.)
